George was born on 13th April 1959 as the third child of Mr. M.M Jacob and Saramma Jacob. Hospitals were rare as well as unaffordable. Child births in villages were mostly handled by Vyttattis who consider themselves to be superior to a modern-day gynaecologist. There were no records of exact birth dates and in most cases, the birth dates were assigned by the Headmaster of the primary school when you took admission in 1st Standard, for which the above is not an exception. George’s father was popularly called Mammala Yacob and was a government employee, focussing equally on different agricultural activities in his own farms. He was toiling hard all day long to ensure a good future for his wife and children. George’s mother was a dedicated woman who stood by her husband and children on all hardships and confined to all household works. She was not a chef, but always made the most delicious food with materials available within their premises. All vegetables were picked within the surroundings. Beef, fish etc were rarest of the rare served only for the guests. The oldest person George remember is his grandmother who lives with Kochappan in Tharavadu whom all the children fondly called Veettiyamma. She was the sweetest old woman to George. In his own words, George was the naughtiest of six children at their home.
There were no preschools those days and the schooling starts from 1st Standard at the age of 5. George studied at Azad Memorial Lower Primary School till 4th, followed by G.H.S Poothrikka till 10th. Education in rural school is just like full package of joy, social knowledge, leadership skill etc. There were no separate coaching or forced learning and his education went with no discipline as like any other child. Education after 10th standard was rare to village students, but George was fortunate to complete his B.Sc degree in Physics ( St. Peters college, Kolenchery ) followed by Grad I.E..T.E ( St. Alberts College, Ernakulam ) and E.MBA Later. He got selected at FACT, Ambalamedu division as a trainee immediately after his studies, but that association didn’t last long. He joined Madura Coats as a Foreman during 1981 and worked there at different levels and locations till he retired as its General Manager in 2020.
George got married to Elvee George belonging to Poovanthara Pattamady family at Mambra, Koratty in 1988 and is blessed with one daughter ( Reshma George ) and one son ( John George ). Reshma did her graduation in computer science and got married to Pratik Reang belonging to Agartala city in Tripura State. Pratik was Reshmas’ senior at the Engineering college where their first love has begun and blossomed into attractive confident couples. Both of them are engaged in I.T services and is currently based out of London. John took his BBA from Loyola College, Chennai and has completed M.Sc in Marketing from Brunel University, London.
